Actor Ingo Naujoks chooses his roles consciously. This also includes the fact that he flatly rejects certain characters. He tells the dpa what they are.

The actor Ingo Naujoks (61, “Magda’s doing it”) often doesn’t let go of his role characters for a long time, even in their private lives. “That’s why I’ve always rejected offers to play a child molester, for example. Because I don’t want to deal with his emotions and thoughts. I don’t want that in my body,” Naujoks told the German Press Agency in Hamburg.

“The topics take hold of you. That’s why I feel that way in the evening that I not only notice physically what I’ve done, but also mentally. And then I’m really sad because something still resonates.”

This is less of a problem with his long-running crime thriller “Morden im Norden”, in which Naujoks investigates in and around Lübeck alongside Sven Martinek (59, “Veterinarian Dr. Mertens”) as an inspector. Because it’s more about everyday cases than serious crimes.

However, the first feature film in the series, the thriller “On the Abyss,” challenged him and his colleagues much more, Naujoks told dpa. Because in it, Martinek, as Inspector Kiesewetter, extinguishes someone’s life – and also creates a life-threatening situation for his ex-girlfriend. These are events that also affect Naujoks alias Englen. The filming team also discussed this very personally in the evenings.

The new episodes of the tenth season “Morden in the North” on the first air from January 8th. On January 2nd at 8:15 p.m., ARD will broadcast the thriller of the series in the evening program. “Am Abgrund” was directed by Dirk Pientka (“Die Heiland”).
