According to a report, the film studio Warner Bros. has postponed the theatrical release of the crime thriller “Wise Guys” from February to November 2024. Why?

The US actor Robert De Niro (80) can currently be seen in the cinema in the historical drama “Killers of the Flower Moon” by director Martin Scorsese. Fans of the Hollywood star will have to wait longer for his return as a screen mafioso.

The film studio Warner Bros. has postponed the theatrical release of the crime thriller “Wise Guys” from February to November 2024, as the industry publication “Variety” reported on Friday. The US actors’ strike, which has been going on since July, has already led to many scheduling changes in the industry.

Warner Bros. also wants to release the film by director Barry Levinson (“Rain Man”, “Good Morning Vietnam”) under the new title “Alto Knight”. The story revolves around the two mafia bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, who ruled New York in the 50s and 60s. According to US media reports, De Niro will play both roles. The screenplay is by Nicholas Pileggi (“Goodfellas”, “Casino”).

De Niro and Levinson have worked together several times, on films like “Wag the Dog” and “Sleepers.” De Niro became famous for numerous mafioso roles; his performances in “The Godfather II” and “Goodfellas” are particularly memorable.
