Actor Mark Margolis, known for his role in the series ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’, is dead

He had appeared in more than fifty films and had made an impression with his intimidating portrayal of drug lord Hector Salamanca on television.

American actor Mark Margolis has died at the age of 83, his son announced, quoted by the American media The Hollywood Reporter. His portrayal of drug lord Hector Salamanca in breaking Bad earned him an Emmy Award nomination in 2012. “He was someone unique”, reacted his manager, Robert Kolker, in a press release. “We don’t make people like him anymore (…) I’m lucky to have known him.”

“He burst the screen!”tweeted actor Bob Odenkirk, star of Better Call Saulseries in which Mark Margolis took over the role of Hector Salamanca. “Mark made me laugh with those jokes and remarks and I can only hope to have half his energy and focus when I hear the word ‘Action’.”

A role in “Scarface”

Born in 1939 in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), he started his career in the theater, before shooting for cinema and television. In 1983, in scarface, by Brian De Palma, he interprets the role of Alberto, the bodyguard of drug trafficker Alejandro Sosa. He then toured several times with director Darren Aronofsky, first in Pihis first feature film, then in Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, The Fountain, The Wrestler or Noah. His CV has more than 50 film roles.

On television, besides breaking Bad And Better Call Saulhe also appeared in oz, American Horror Story, The Affair, California or Gotham.
