Daniel Sträßer is happy about the fan community for SR “Tatort”

Daniel Sträßer regularly appears in front of the camera as Chief Inspector Adam Schürk. The Saarbrücken “Tatort” inspires him – and the viewers.
With “The Curse of Money” (director: Christian Theede, book: Hendrik Hölzemann), the fifth case between the two was broadcast on Sunday. According to SR, 9.045 million viewers tuned in nationwide. This corresponds to a market share of 30.2 percent and is therefore the highest for a Saarland “crime scene” crime thriller since 1993. He is “extremely pleased” about this, said Sträßer in an interview with the dpa on Monday.
One case per year is a “blessing and a curse”
The ongoing narrative of the SR “crime scene” is based on a special relationship between the two investigators and a shared childhood trauma. In Sträßer’s opinion, the fact that there is only one case per year has both advantages and disadvantages: “It’s a blessing and a curse at the same time,” says the 36-year-old, who lives in Berlin. The linear storyline in particular implies “that it would be hotter if you had more of it per year.”
On the other hand, the individual case gives him freedom: “I like the polyvalence in my job,” he said, referring to his work as an actor for roles in cinema, television, streaming services and also theatre. “Because we only shoot one “crime scene” a year, I can cover many other areas and still have enough time for my family.”
He described it as “very nice and sweet” that there was now an idea on an internet platform from Saarbrücken Tatort fans to start a fundraising campaign to collect donations and give the Saarländischer Rundfunk a second “crime scene” in the year to enable.
