He had played in “Peau d’âne” or “Le Crabe-drum”. The filmmaker, actor and producer Jacques Perrin died this Thursday in Paris at the age of 80, his family announced to AFP. He was also a member of the Academy of Fine Arts since 2019.
“The family has the immense sadness to inform you of the disappearance of the filmmaker Jacques Perrin, who died on Thursday April 21 in Paris. He passed away peacefully at the age of 80”explains his family in a statement sent to AFP by his son, Mathieu Simonet.
Actor in “Les Demoiselles de Rochefort”, “Peau d’âne”, “Goliath”
Jacques Perrin, born in Paris on July 13, 1941, appeared in more than 70 films from the 1950s. Pierre Schoendoerffer, or “Les Demoiselles de Rochefort” in 1967 and “Peau d’âne” in 1970 by Jacques Demy. He has also been the co-producer of some fifteen films since the end of the 1960s, including “Z” by Costa-Gavras (1968) or “Les Choristes” (2004) by his nephew Christophe Barratier, in which he also played .
He was also known for having co-produced several documentaries on the theme of nature, including “The Monkey People” (1989), “Microcosmos: the grass people” (1996) or “Himalayas: the childhood of a chief ” (1999), then co-directed “Le Peuple migrateur” (2001) and “Océans” (2010), awarded the César for best documentary in 2011.
His last film role was in “Goliath”, a film released in March, a thriller about pesticides, where he teams up with a formidable lobbyist from the phytosanitary industry, played by Pierre Niney.
