Activists spray paint the Louis Vuitton Foundation and the Ritz

The facade of the Louis Vuitton Foundation, then the sidewalk in front of the Ministry of Justice and the Ritz in Paris… Activists from the environmental organization Extinction Rébellion and Last Renovation took out the cans of paint on May 1 to denounce the behavior of rich and in solidarity with the workers.

In a video posted on Twitter by journalist Clément Lanot, a group of activists was filmed spraying the facade of the Vuitton Foundation – closed on Monday – with orange and pink paint. Extinction Rebellion claimed responsibility.

Activists threw paint on the transparent facades using hijacked fire extinguishers and “paint bombs” formed from “small balloons”, a spokesperson for the organization told AFP. AFP.

The action led by “about thirty” activists, according to the organization, took place around 9:30 a.m. and lasted “about ten minutes”. Extinction Rebellion intended through this action, to target the luxury group LVMH which it accuses of “tax optimization”. “In this current social context where the French are giving up one meal a day because of inflation, the health of large groups is indecent”, indicated the spokesperson.

A few kilometers away, other activists sprayed the Place Vendome with orange paint at the entrances to the palace Le Ritz and the Ministry of Justice. According to journalist Clément Lanot, also present at the scene, they were Last Renovation activists, acting in “solidarity with the workers” on Labor Day.
