The anesthesiologist Frédéric Péchier has been on the dock since 2017. He is accused of poisoning 30 patients, including 12 fatalities. Locked in silence for several years, the practitioner has granted an interview to our colleagues from Parisian this Tuesday, which he however took care to reread. Frédéric Péchier says he wants to restore the truth, explaining that he has not been heard by the judges for four years: “I risk life for something that I did not commit! he shouts.
Three problematic cases
The anesthesiologist recognizes that there are three cases which pose a problem because “in the injection bags, we found products that had nothing to do there”. But he does not know if this is voluntary or not, specifying that it is not for him to say. There would be no other evidence of administration of abnormal products apart from these three, according to him.
When our colleagues from Parisian ask Frédéric Péchier how it was possible to find such a high level of lidocaine in the ampoules (nearly five times the lethal dose), the doctor defends himself by explaining that we know the toxic dose, but not the lethal dose : “everything depends on the people”, he specifies before refuting all accusations of revenge against his colleagues in times of conflict.
If Frédéric Péchier was not imprisoned, he was forbidden to practice anesthesia and to live in Besançon. What he admits to living badly, explaining that he has lost everything: “My professional, social, family life… I had to go back to live with my parents, in my teenager’s room, it’s infantilizing. »
Ready to re-explain in court
The doctor also admits not seeing his son grow up and that his marriage did not withstand these trials. Now without income, the practitioner tried to end his life in October 2021 by throwing himself from a high window of his parents’ home, located near Poitiers. The fact, according to him, of not being heard was becoming unbearable.
Finally, if the anesthetist claims to understand the suffering of the civil parties awaiting trial and who think he is guilty, he says he is ready to explain himself again: “I have never poisoned anyone! I’m innocent, and I’m fighting for that to be recognized. “Explanations that Frédéric Péchier will be able to give again during an assize trial to be held in 2025.
