  • Gathered in Granada, in the south of Spain, at the third summit of the European Political Community, European leaders gave Volodymyr Zelensky signs of their desire to increase their military aid to Ukraine on Thursday October 5. Germany notably announced that it was working with the Ukrainian president to provide a new Patriot air defense system to kyiv for the winter period.
  • The Ukrainian president thanked the Europeans in his daily message broadcast on social networks: “We will have more air defense – the agreements are clear. This is very important before winter. Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain – thank you! »

  • This summit took place whilea Russian bombing caused the death of 51 people, including a child, in the village Hroza, in the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian authorities reported. Six people were injured. The attack took place around 1:15 p.m. local time (12:15 p.m. Paris time). A food store and a cafe were affected, regional governor Oleh Synehoubov said on Telegram.
  • According to preliminary data, the attack was carried out with an Iskander ballistic missile, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Telegram. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced a “totally deliberate act of terrorism”.
  • Moscow said Thursday it had shot down eight Ukrainian drones in western Russia, without mentioning possible damage or injuries. The governor of annexed Crimea also affirmed that two nautical drone attacks in the Black Sea near Sevastopol had been repelled.
  • Russia has withdrawn most of its Black Sea fleet from its main base in Crimeaaccording to The Wall Street Journal. Advisor to the Ukrainian Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko assured X (formerly Twitter) than Crimea and the Black Sea “now constitute the most important area where a turning point in the war could take place”.
