The Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin was heard before the Senate this Wednesday, April 5 to discuss the strategy of the police in Sainte-Soline but on this occasion, he made an aside on the fire which touched the door monument of the Palais Rohan, on March 23, two hours after the end of a demonstration against the pension reform.
“I fight the ultra-right like the ultra-left”
“The investigation is continuing but to my knowledge no information has come up to say that it was the ultra-right who was responsible for what happened in Bordeaux,” he said. Rue 89 Bordeaux wondered in particular on this eventuality, based on the content of the slogans chanted by certain people in a video shot on the spot by one of its journalists. “If it’s the ultra-right at the end [de l’enquête] I will say it, I fight them, like the ultra-left,” he added.
The Bordeaux prosecutor’s office at this stage replies that “no element of the investigation has made it possible to determine the membership of the respondents in any political movement”. The Minister of the Interior recalled his dissolution, last December, of the Bordeaux Nationalist group, several members of which were tried on March 23 and 24 for violence in meetings and a sexist contempt, before the criminal court.
