The floor of the Hindu temple in the city of Indore collapsed on Thursday. The victims fell into a deep well structure. Not all survived that.

After the floor of a temple collapsed in India, the death toll has risen to 36. The Indian news agency ANI, citing local authorities, reported on Friday that other missing persons are still being sought.

The floor of the Hindu temple in the city of Indore in the state of Madhya Pradesh collapsed on Thursday. The victims fell into a deep well structure. Many of the rescued were taken to the hospital with injuries, it said. In view of the Hindu festival Ram Navami, the rush in the temple was very large.

In India most people are religious and Hindus. In recent years, dozens of people have died in India due to infrastructure-related accidents. In such cases, there is always an investigation and compensation for the victims’ families. In this case, Madhya Pradesh head of government Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that families of the dead would be paid 500,000 rupees (5584 euros) each and 50,000 rupees (558 euros) each for the injured.
