Ship accident in Hamburg – ship’s master found dead

After a ship accident, rescue workers searched in vain for a missing person in the Elbe for a long time. After the ship was salvaged, they found a body. Now the identity is clear.
The body found in a sunken ship is that of the missing crew member. A police spokesman in Hamburg said he could confirm that the dead man was the 33-year-old ship’s master. The police and the public prosecutor’s office initially had no information about the actual cause of death and thus a result from the Institute of Forensic Medicine. The investigation into The ship accident is still ongoing, the spokesman said.
On Wednesday evening, a so-called mooring boat collided with a push convoy on the Köhlbrand waterway near the Neuhof pier and sank. The crew member was searched for hours in vain. The boat was pulled out of the water on Thursday morning.
