According to the fire department, several people are still missing. The serious accident occurred in the morning on a construction site for the Überseequartier in HafenCity – one of the largest construction sites in Hamburg.
In an accident on a construction site in Hamburg Five workers died in HafenCity. A fire department spokesman said they fell from scaffolding.
Several people are therefore still missing. The construction site was evacuated, according to a fire department spokesman. There are 60 rescue workers on duty.
According to the fire department, the construction workers fell into the depths of scaffolding during the accident. A scaffolding fell into a shaft.
The accident occurred at the construction site for the Überseequartier – several hundred workers were standing in front of the evacuated area late in the morning.
The Überseequartier is one of the largest construction sites in Hamburg. A shopping arcade, restaurants, offices and hotels will be built there.
