Two young men fell on Easter Sunday in Essen with a car from the top floor of a parking garage and died. The fire department said the car fell 15 to 18 meters and came to rest on the sidewalk on the driver’s side. The rescue workers found two unresponsive young men in the “totally deformed vehicle”. They were 16 and 19 years old.
According to witness statements and traces on the top parking deck, the suspicion that driving maneuvers that led to the accident could have taken place there, said a police spokesman for the dpa. Which of the two young men was behind the wheel could not be finally answered by the police in the evening. This is “part of the ongoing investigation,” the spokesman said.
The injured young men were taken to a clinic under ongoing resuscitation, where only death could be determined, the fire brigade said. Eyewitnesses and family members who came to the scene of the accident received emergency pastoral care.
