Accessibility: Interview with Bavaria’s Disability Representative Holger Kiesel – Bavaria

He sits in a wheelchair himself and almost every day encounters thresholds that he cannot overcome on his own: Holger Kiesel, Commissioner for the Disabled, says what needs to change in Bavaria.

On Tuesday, Bavaria’s Council of Ministers reappointed Holger Kiesel as Commissioner for the Disabled. The 48-year-old former editor of Bayerischer Rundfunk has been in this position since 2019. Due to a lack of oxygen during his birth, he is spastically paralyzed, sits in a wheelchair and is therefore very familiar with the many barriers of everyday life.
