After an eight-year break and with a new bassist: AC/DC will play nine concerts in seven German cities from May 2024.

Leaving after eight years AC/DC on tour in Europe again. As part of their “Power Up” tour, the Australian rockers will also play nine times in Germany. The organizers announced this in a press release on Monday. A countdown had previously come to an end on AC/DC’s homepage, which many fans interpreted as an indication of the announcement of a tour. Rightly so, as it now turns out.

Double blows at Schalke and in Munich

It starts on May 17, 2024 in Gelsenkirchen. The band will also play in the Veltins Arena of FC Schalke 04 on May 21st. The Schalke guest appearance is followed by another double blow. On June 9th and 12th the “Hells Bells” will sound in the Munich Olympic Stadium. Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter (65) had already announced the latter date in November 2023.

It continues on June 16th in Dresden (Rinne). The Hockenheimring follows on July 13th and the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart on July 17th. In Nuremberg, the band will stop at the Zeppelinfeld on July 27th before the German leg of the tour ends on July 31st at the Hanover Trade Fair.

In addition to Germany, AC/DC is a guest in ten other European countries. According to the organizers, these are Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, England, Slovakia, Belgium, France and Ireland.

New bassist: AC/DC play in this line-up

Which line-up are AC/DC touring with? This is the question fans ask themselves about the band, which is notoriously affected by line-up changes due to illness and other adversities.

In addition to founding member and long-running guitarist Angus Young (68), singer Brian Johnson (76) is back at the microphone. In 2016 he had to be replaced by Axl Rose (62) due to illness. The rhythm guitarist is Stevie Young (67), who replaced his uncle Malcolm Young (1953-2017), who suffered from dementia, in 2014.

Matt Laug (55) takes a seat on the drums. On stage he represents regular drummer Phil Rudd (69), who has been in conflict with the law many times. Bassist Cliff Williams (74) is not there, although he returned to AC/DC for the “Power Up” album released in 2020. There is a new bassist on the tour, but his name has not been announced yet.

Ticket sales start on February 16th

Ticket sales for the Germany concerts start on February 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at all known ticket offices.
