Like every month, the meteorologists of Meteo France and of
Mercator Ocean, the French ocean analysis and forecasting center) are developing
their seasonal forecasts for the next three months and across Western Europe.

These seasonal forecasts aim to determine the average climate for the coming quarter, Météo France recalls. They indicate the most likely scenario among three predefined scenarios: near, below or above average. This gives for the temperature “hot”, “normal” or “cold”, and for precipitation, “wet”, “normal” or “dry”.

An average temperature above normal between May and July

The latest bulletin, published this Saturday, gives the general trend over the next three months to come. Clearly, a first glimpse of what our summer could look like.

From May to July, a scenario with an average temperature over the quarter above normal should dominate most of France, according to Météo France. Only the regions close to the North-West and the English Channel will not see any scenario emerge. For precipitation, drier than normal conditions are most likely over our country. “

“In the southern half of Europe, including most of France, and the Mediterranean Basin, the probability of a warmer-than-normal scenario is predominant, continues Météo France. From Iceland to the north of the UK, the “near normal” scenario is most likely. Between the two, from the Channel to Scandinavia and Russia, no trend stands out between these two options.

On the precipitation side, drier than normal conditions are the most likely in our country, adds Météo France.
