Suddenly two lines on the test. And with that clarity: pregnant. This is not good news for every woman. For some, the only way out is to abort. The legal situation in Germany is clear. According to Section 218 of the Criminal Code, abortion is generally prohibited in Germany. In certain cases it remains unpunished – including if it occurs within the first twelve weeks and after advice from a state-recognized body. Abortion is also exempt from punishment if there are medical reasons or after rape.
