Abortion law in Arizona: “Are we back in the Middle Ages?”

Jennifer is 21 and had to terminate an ectopic pregnancy. Noah is 22 and had himself sterilized. Now they are stunned by Arizona’s draconian abortion ban.

Just three hours after the Arizona Supreme Court issued the harsh ruling, Jennifer Dekker and Noah Abedon stand with two posters at a busy intersection in the west of the small town of Sedona.

Jennifer wrote on her poster: “I’m not Ovary-Reacting,” a play on the words ovaries and overreacting. And Noah on his: “Just admit you hate women. Pro-Life – My Ass.” An attack on abortion opponents called pro-life.

“I knew immediately that I had to do something, anything,” says the 22-year-old student. “Me too,” says Jennifer, 21. “Are we back in the Middle Ages?”
