A8: Novice driver races too fast in a curve – district of Munich

An 18-year-old novice driver caused a serious accident on Saturday afternoon at the Hofoldinger Forst motorway exit. He had cornered too fast, causing the rear of his car to swerve and throwing him across the lane. According to the police, a 52-year-old who was about to turn onto the freeway had no chance of avoiding the oncoming vehicle. As a result of the collision, the 18-year-old from Munich landed his car in the grass verge. The driver of the other car, a doctor from Dietramszell, suffered a minor injury to his forearm despite the airbag and had to be taken to hospital by the emergency services. The amount of property damage is estimated by the police at a total of 17,000 euros. The young man now has to answer for negligent bodily harm, as a novice driver his probationary period is also extended to four years and he has to attend follow-up training.
