A8: Car breaks through wildlife protection fence – district of Munich

The police are looking for a driver who provoked a serious accident on Sunday morning on the A8 motorway towards Salzburg through his reckless driving. The wanted person, who, according to witnesses, was driving a VW Golf, overtook another car around 7:15 a.m. shortly before the Hofolding rest area and then cut in so close to it that the driver lost control of the vehicle out of fright. This threw first against the median barrier and then over all lanes to the right of the motorway. The 32-year-old driver rammed a traffic sign, broke through the wildlife protection fence and only came to a stop after about 100 meters under a high-voltage pylon. According to the police, the driver miraculously suffered only minor injuries, his 23-year-old wife was unharmed. Two Bundeswehr soldiers who happened to be passing the scene of the accident provided first aid. The energy supplier was informed to clarify possible damage to the high-voltage pylon. According to his assessment, however, there was no reason to fear an impairment of the power supply. The accident car had to be recovered by a towing company using a winch. The Holzkirchen motorway police are looking for witnesses to clarify the course of the accident. They can call 08024/907 30.
