A 50-year-old driver died of serious injuries after an accident involving two trucks on the A3 near Theilheim (Würzburg district). The police said he initially drove his vehicle into a truck on Saturday night for reasons that are still unclear. Then the 50-year-old’s car stopped in the right lane without any lights. Another truck driver recognized the vehicle too late and rammed it with his truck. The impact pushed the car onto the hard shoulder.
It is currently unclear whether the 50-year-old was driving without lights. The seriously injured man was taken to hospital and died there around an hour and a half later. The two truck drivers remained uninjured. The A3 was closed in the direction of Frankfurt for more than five hours.
