A man was hit by a car on the hard shoulder of the A3 in Middle Franconia and was so seriously injured that he died. The 30-year-old had previously left his car because of a breakdown, according to the police. Despite attempted resuscitation, he died at the scene of the accident. Two other people were injured.
The 30-year-old and his passenger of the same age stopped on the hard shoulder near Winkelhaid in the Nürnberger Land district on Saturday afternoon. The man got out and the woman stayed in the car. For an unknown reason, a driver, also 30 years old, left the road to the right and hit the man and his car. The driver himself was slightly injured in the accident, the woman in the broken down car was seriously injured.
He then hit another vehicle, in which no one was injured. The A3 remained closed in the evening for several hours after the accident.
