A young man missing after a fall in a quarry

The alert was given at 3:30 p.m. People who were spending the afternoon near an old quarry in Laillé, south of Rennes, saw one of their friends fall into the water. Aged about twenty, the young man did not come back to the surface. It is not known at this time whether he intentionally jumped off the rocks or accidentally fell.

Since that time, the diving fire teams from Rennes and Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) have been trying to find the missing young man. In this body of water about 9 meters deep, visibility would be almost zero, with a large number of underwater construction waste, making research complex. The old Corbinais quarry is now disused. Dog teams and two drones were also sent to the site to try to locate the swimmer.
