a worker dies caught by a compacting machine in Concarneau

A fatal work accident occurred Monday morning at the Socorex fish trading company in Concarneau, we learned from the Finistère firefighters. Around 11 a.m., a 52-year-old worker fell into a polystyrene compacting machine on which he was working. According to West France, the machine was stopped but still powered and started. The victim’s left leg was caught in the device.

When help arrived, the 50-year-old had already died of his injuries. Labor inspectors went on site during the day to make the first findings. An investigation has been opened by the Quimper prosecutor’s office to shed light on the circumstances of the tragedy.
