On Thursday, a 40-year-old woman was found seriously injured at her home in Besançon, after receiving several stab wounds from her brother. The victim was saved after a call from the brother to the police.
“I have just killed my sister” he declared on the telephone after having dialed 17 twice, indicated the divisional commissioner Yves Cellier, departmental director of public security for Doubs. “He said he stabbed him several times,” he added. The police intervened and the individual was arrested in the middle of the street.
No known motives at this time
A second team of police went to the victim’s home on the indications of the alleged perpetrator and found the woman who was lying unconscious in her blood. “The police provided first aid to the victim by applying a pressure point to his double throat wound, saving his life,” said Yves Cellier. “The victim lost a lot of blood. His vital prognosis is engaged but stable,” added the prosecutor. The investigation was entrusted to the departmental security of Besançon.
“The defendant, of Turkish origin, 36 years old, is the brother of the victim”, explained to AFP Etienne Manteaux, public prosecutor in Besançon. “Unarmed but covered in blood, he offered no resistance during his arrest in a street in the Planoise district. He was immediately taken into custody. He does not explain the reasons for his action and is not known to the police,” he said.
