a wild boar takes refuge at her place during a hunt, she adopts him

They will be able to remain friends as pigs.A demonstration of support was planned for Monday so that Woody, a wild boar who took refuge during a hunt with a resident of Lédat, near Villeneuve-sur-Lot, can be adopted by his rescuer. This Thursday, the prefect of Lot-et-Garonne finally accepted by anticipating the hearing, “alert by many positions in favor” of this resident, he explains in a press release.

The French biodiversity office had recovered the animal on January 13, to the great despair of its rescuer. He will soon be returned to him, after unsuccessful attempts to release him into the wild.

“The least bad solution”

The wild boar took refuge in the garden of this resident during a hunt. “After several attempts to release him, he systematically came back, increasingly weak, without any trace of his mother around…”, writes the person who collected it. “In view of all the elements brought to his attention, in particular the facts that led to the animal being collected, and after the failures of the owner to return it to its natural environment, the prefect decided to regularize this situation, considering that it was the least bad solution,” the statement continued. A victory for the family who collected the animal and will find it very soon. It is also a joy for the association Vida,
who started a support petition.

The prefect specifies, however, that the living conditions of the wild boar “must be adapted and guarantee the safety of people and property, starting with that of its holder, now legitimate”. He recalls in his press release that it is forbidden to take wild animals from their natural environment and that “the socialization relationship with a human ruins their chances of survival in the natural environment”.
