A diving boat was hit by another vessel. Several people were ejected, and at least one person seriously injured.
A boat accident occurred this Saturday afternoon in Marseille, BFM Marseille Provence has learned.
The events occurred around 5 p.m. between Les Goudes and Cap Croisette. While volunteer divers were participating in the “Species that count” operation, which consists of identifying the species present in the coves, their boat was hit by another motor vessel which was sailing at high speed.
The divers on board were ejected and the boat suffered significant water ingress. Four people are in absolute emergency. One of the injured divers was airlifted to La Timone hospital. Around ten ambulances were mobilized, as well as the SNSM launch and the Dragon 131 helicopter.
The pilot of the boat which transported English tourists, who came to see the match between England and Argentina this Saturday evening in Marseille, was placed in police custody this Saturday evening. The boat was seized.
