A vast pyrotechnic depollution operation begins in Francazal

This Monday, and until November 10, a pyrotechnic depollution operation will take place north of the
Francazal base, straddling the towns of Toulouse, Portet and Cugnaux. On a hectare of land, occupied during World War II by the Germans, a team specializing in mine clearance will search the ground for shells and other buried ammunition. During a preliminary study, a survey had made it possible to detect no less than 250 metallic objects lying underground.

In this context, occasional evacuation or containment measures will be necessary for more than a hundred riparian dwellings. Traffic bans will also be implemented during the clean-up period. Residents of four homes will have to leave their homes for at least four days. Once this operation has been carried out, the construction of the administrative services of the army medical center can begin.
