A union calls for the blocking of the prison of Arles after the questioning of a supervisor

The Ufap Unsa Justice union has just launched an appeal to block the central house of Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône) on Thursday, in order to protest against the disciplinary procedures aimed at a supervisor of the establishment, after the submission of a report on the assassination of Yvan Colonna. “This supervisor is a scapegoat, denounces Thomas Forner, Ufap delegate from Arles. He is accused of everything when he only did his job as well as possible and respecting the instructions given to him. For us, the faults that have been committed come from the prison administration as a whole and from the Ministry of Justice. »

“We will block the establishment from 6 a.m. Thursday morning and for an indefinite period. No one will be able to enter or leave,” the trade unionist announced on Tuesday, adding that the other unions “should normally” join this action. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced last Thursday “the initiation of disciplinary proceedings” against the former director of the prison and a supervisor, after the submission of a report on the assassination of Yvan Colonna which concludes with “shortcomings” on their part.

“A clear lack of vigilance” according to the report of the IGJ

On March 2, Yvan Colonna was violently attacked in the sports hall of the central house by Franck Elong Abé, a 36-year-old man who was serving several sentences, including one of nine years for “terrorist criminal association”. He died of his injuries after three weeks in a coma.

The supervisor in charge of the wing where the Corsican separatist was located, who was serving a life sentence for the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac, showed a “clear lack of vigilance” by remaining “without any reason away “from the place of the facts, which lasted nine minutes, concluded in particular the report of the General Inspectorate of Justice (IGJ).
