In a few months, they realized a nice added value. According to the site of France Blue Loire Ocean, the town hall of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire in Vendée will buy land from members of the Travelers’ community for 125,000 euros. This plot had been bought by them a few months ago for only… 8,000 euros. Why this buyout at such a high price? The new owners of the land have announced that they want to legally install caravans, except that the place is an ultra-protected site, close to La Guittière, an oyster farm.

Maxence de Rugy, the mayor of the Vendée commune, (with the approval of the commune’s municipal council) therefore decided to negotiate with the new buyer. Which first claimed 300,000 euros! The plot was finally sold for 125,000 euros. The Vendée Departmental Council provided support to the mayor of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire.
