A tornado hit the village of Pontarion

The testimonies have been multiplying since Thursday evening on social networks, and the tornado which fell around 5 p.m. on the village of Pontarion, south of Guéret in the Creuse. The phenomenon was filmed by many Internet users who shared it on various sites.

Several roofs of houses within the village suffered damage during the passage of the tornado. Poles and trees were uprooted. “Three-quarters of the roofs of the buildings are destroyed, the main street was strewn with debris” says a resident on BFMTV.

“Significant damage”

THE Keraunos website (observatory of tornadoes and violent storms) confirms that it is indeed a tornado phenomenon, “which fell on Thursday in the municipalities of Pontarion and Thauron. It formed around 4:55 p.m. on the southern edge of an active storm cell, which showed supercellular characteristics. The phenomenon caused significant damage. »

According France 3 New Aquitaine, the firefighters had to deal with some 150 calls in the area, including 58 in the town of Pontarion alone. Firefighters inspect the roads this Friday morning.
