A tornado causes significant damage in the small town of Poulx

A tornado hit the small town of Poulx, in Gard, located about ten kilometers north of Nîmes. Brief, but violent, the climatic episode occurred on Monday, in the middle of the afternoon, when part of Languedoc was affected by a heavy episode of rain.

There were no casualties, but many trees were uprooted, roofs torn off and an electric cable torn down by the power of the wind, depriving the population of part of the electricity.

“Gusts of 100 km/h were observed below the storm line. », specifies Météo Languedoc. “The Gard was the most watered, with for example 25.5 mm in Nîmes Courbessac, 28 mm in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie and up to 50 mm in the Rhône valley.”
