A tobacconist in Ain was sentenced Wednesday by the Bourg-en-Bresse criminal court for fraud. The man was fined 1,500 euros. He was accused of having cashed the winning ticket from one of his clients. Namely 3,335 euros that he will have to pay back to the victim.

Irony of the calendar: the customer in question had his lotto ticket validated on April 1, 2020, report Progress. Before learning that he had won more than 3,000 euros. But the tobacconist then made him believe in a machine error and a much smaller gain, 300 euros in this case. The lucky one, however, had doubts and set out to check his numbers on the Internet, realizing that he had been duped by the manager of the place. He then filed a complaint.

The investigation established that the tobacconist had simply cashed the prize in his own name.
