“A thousand lines” by Michael Bully Herbig: The Relotius scandal as a film

Director Michael Bully Herbig filmed the media scandal surrounding former “Spiegel” reporter Claas Relotius. We were at the premiere in Hamburg and can tell you whether the film is worth watching.

Of course, director Michael Bully Herbig couldn’t help but take on this story, as he says himself. She seems made for him. It was probably the biggest German media scandal after the alleged Hitler diaries in star (yes, we plead guilty): The numerous made-up reports by the “Spiegel” journalist Claas Relotius. Ironically, the magazine, which is considered the most serious and largest in Europe, which wants to say “what is”, didn’t notice that one of its employed reporters for years simply invented people, situations, and sometimes entire reports.
