A strike by its agents forces the resort of Vars to close its slopes

The white gold does not flow enough to their liking. Employees of the ski resort of Vars (Hautes-Alpes) started a strike movement which forced the resort to close its ski area this Thursday afternoon, reports Provence.

Some of the 180 seasonal employees are demanding higher wages and longer contracts that would allow them to benefit from unemployment insurance at the end of the season, the daily specifies.

This strike comes at a time when school holidays in the southern zone are at the station’s peak of annual activity. The loss of earnings estimated by this closing day is estimated at between 100,000 and 150,000 euros.
