A social conflict disrupts regional broadcasts on France 3 of several morning shows

Fans of France Bleu mornings will have to deal with some disturbances. Several radio journalists withdrew their image rights from Tuesday morning to protest against the precarious status of those responsible for filming certain programs, local union activists said.

Two of the three speakers of the morning show of France Bleu Nord having thus asked not to be filmed, the program should not be broadcast as it usually is from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on France 3 Nord-Pas-de-Calais , said Mathieu Darriet, co-secretary of SNJ-CGT Radio France and journalist on France Bleu Nord.

A showdown with Eden Press

According to this trade unionist, a dozen other locals have planned a similar withdrawal from Tuesday, including those of Paris, Bordeaux, Le Mans, Limoges and Rouen. Also in Aix-en-Provence, the host and the three journalists from France Bleu Provence have also decided to withdraw their image rights.

Journalists are protesting in this way against the precarious status of the visual editors employed to put radio newspapers into images, who are employed on fixed-term contracts by a private subcontractor, Eden Press. The latter has indeed decided not to renew the contract of visual editors who have worked for more than three years at the start of the next school year, “a dismissal that does not say its name” according to the SNJ-CGT of Radio France.

Radio France kicks in touch

“What we are asking for is that Radio France use its status as a principal so that visual editors can work longer than three years,” explained Mathieu Darriet, recalling that a renewal of the call for offers is expected at the end of the year.

“In our sector, the rule limiting assignments carried out by employees on CDD/U to three years applies everywhere, in the private sector as well as in the public sector” and “generally suits quite well the nature of our activities, their seasonality and to the journalists themselves”, for his part reacted the president of Eden Press Grégoire Olivereau. “Several possibilities can be offered” to the visual editors concerned, “such as an evolution towards another position in the company, the supervision of the teams seconded to our customers or on another program for which Eden is in charge”, a- he added.

Asked, the management of Radio France referred to its service provider. “We do not wish to intervene or comment on the decisions of an external service provider (Eden Press) who employs the visual editors within the framework of the morning shows filmed France Bleu / France 3”, she indicated.
