A school offers a “day of the people we love” rather than a mother’s and father’s day? Yes, but the initiative dates from 2016

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day renamed at school? This is the concern that is expressed on social networks, since the dissemination of a word presented as coming from school mistresses. “Dear parents, in view of the delicate family situations of certain children, we have decided to celebrate the “day of the people we love” and not the traditional Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, we read there. Each child has therefore created two objects that he will offer to the people of his choice. The two objects will be brought home at the same time on Thursday, June 9, 2022. ” The word is signed by “mistresses”.

The word sparked debate on social networks, between Internet users indignant that the two parties are “renowned”, while others expressed their support for this initiative in messages relayed several thousand times. “So, we are renamed all the other holidays (Christmas, Easter…), now these? “, thus indignant a user in a tweet which had been shared more than 3,500 times before being deleted.

FAKE OFF

The word that is currently circulating on social networks is inspired by an authentic word. This is Maëva Nourry, a mother and author of fantasy, who discovered it in 2016 in the notebook of his son, then attending kindergarten in a small town in Gironde. She then posted it on social media. “I thought it was a great initiative,” she tells 20 minutes. We are a couple of male and female parents, so Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, we don’t mind. But not all children have this opportunity, they can be fostered or brought up by their grandparents. There are also children who have two dads, two moms. I thought it was really good for kids. »

Another advantage of the initiative, “it gave my son the possibility of giving gifts to whoever he wanted. His father and I, we got our gifts anyway! she jokes. Has the project been renewed? The young woman had no other children enrolled in the school. The rectorate had not responded to our requests at the time of publication of the article.

At the time, the word had been relayed in several media – including 20 minutes – and the comments were already raging on social media. “It was madness,” smiles Maeva Nourry. I was not expecting it at all. »

Six years later, the initiative continues to be talked about and the mother sometimes receives malicious comments. “I find it great that the word turns, because it conveys a beautiful message of love and tolerance”, launches Maëva Nourry. As for malicious comments, “we end up not seeing them anymore, because we know what we believe in, know who we are. »
