In January of this year, the representative of the Ariège-Roussillon Interdepartmental Tourism Office, a tourist association based in Toulouse, noticed major inconsistencies in the accounts. She ended up filing a complaint, according to the police, in February of this year against its treasurer for embezzlement. The latter is none other than a 69-year-old retiree who worked for the Office since April 2021 until January of this year with the discovery of the association’s accounts.
Thanks to an investigation by the Urban Security of the Right Bank, the police were able to interview the main suspect on September 21. The latter admitted to having embezzled 15,000 euros through transfers and checks in her name and two of her children. According to the police, the former treasurer put forward the explanation of opportunism and breach of trust.
The latter will be summoned to court for embezzlement in June 2024.
