An attempt at feminicide that feeds anger. Between 150 and 200 people demonstrated on Tuesday in Blois to denounce the police’s treatment of violence against women, a week after the violent attack on a young woman a few hours after being invited to appear later at the police station.
“It reflects our society in which we do not do our work against violence against women. (…) What is fundamental, when you receive a woman, is to know if she is safe. (…) Despite the laws that have been made, there is no political awareness of the seriousness of what is being done to women”, estimated Micheline Dupont, from the Droit des Femmes 41 collective, at the initiative of the rally. The reception of women “is not yet developed”, “people lack training”, she regretted before the police station.
“There is a whole system that needs to be reviewed”
Also present, Even, who did not wish to give his last name, spoke for the collective of the feminist Collages of Blois. “We are here to denounce the inaction of the police,” said the young activist.
“When, at 5.30 p.m., she was told to come back the next day, she said she was scared and, unfortunately, she was told that, as it was not the procedure, she would not be escorted back to At her place. And it was when she got home that it happened. (…) It is not possible for someone to denounce violence, denounce the fear of dying, and not be heard, ”she insisted. “These failures are systemic, it is not a particular person, it is not the Blois police station. There is a whole system that needs to be reviewed, ”she said.
The IGPN entered
The IGPN was seized on Friday after the violent assault of this 24-year-old young woman, struck by her former companion a few hours after presenting herself without having been received at the Blois police station, according to the prefecture of Loir-et-Cher.
The victim, placed in a coma, suffers from “Major cerebral hemorrhagic lesions”, said the prosecutor of the Republic of Blois Charlotte Beluet.
His former companion, aged 27, was arrested Thursday in Plaisir (Yvelines). He was remanded in custody as part of a criminal investigation for attempted murder.
