A police officer “caught” under a suspect’s car in Sochaux

A police officer was injured and hospitalized Thursday evening in Sochaux (Doubs) after a refusal to comply on the part of a man driving a vehicle who was finally arrested after police shots, we learned from consistent sources. The police officer and the driver were hospitalized. Their vital prognoses are not guaranteed.

The events took place early in the evening, in the city center: after refusing to comply, the police officer, belonging to the anti-crime brigade (BAC), was dragged by the vehicle for several meters. The police opened fire and the driver was shot and injured.

The latter “was the subject of a search warrant,” a police source told AFP. “Seeing himself surrounded, he tried to reverse, and he took with him, under the vehicle,” one of the agents “who was caught,” said this source.

“A miracle”

The driver “made a maneuver to move forward while (the BAC agent) was still stuck. The two other agents did everything to stop the escape, in particular by blocking it with their own vehicle. That did not stop the driver from trying to push the vehicle in front of him, and then (another agent) opened fire,” added the same source.

“Our colleague is a miracle, his colleagues saved his life. If the individual had managed to escape, he would have left with our colleague trapped under the car,” reacted Christophe Dalongeville, departmental secretary of the Alliance police nationale union, contacted by AFP.

The driver of the vehicle was already “very unfavorably known” to the police, said the police source.
