A plane chartered from Lyon to repatriate pregnant women from Zythomyr

On Monday, a plane chartered by the Métropole de Lyon will take off in the direction of Poland, with in particular on board teams from the Red Cross. It will be a question of repatriating Ukrainian women, most of them pregnant. Before being transferred to Krakow, these civilians lived in the region of Zythomyr, whose maternity ward was bombed.

Sometimes accompanied by their children, the passengers are expected in Lyon next Tuesday. They will then be cared for at the Natecia clinic until they give birth.

Hosted at Desgenettes Hospital

“State services will also be responsible for providing accommodation in accommodation made available by the Ministry of the Armed Forces on the Desgenettes site”, indicates the metropolis of Lyon in a press release.

On the outward journey, the plane will be loaded with more than three tonnes of medical, relief and hygiene equipment which will then be distributed on the spot to Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The craft was originally to be used for a school trip to Auschwitz. But in view of the situation and the outbreak of the war, the operation was canceled. “Given the circumstances”, the community wanted to “put this same plane at the service of displaced Ukrainians”.
