A photo of the Trumps sits amid the garlands, gingerbread and decorations adorning the Biden family’s Christmas tree. During a visit on Monday, journalists discovered the White House lavishly decorated and illuminated for the end of the year celebrations.
Visitors discovered a replica of the gingerbread places, a table set for a festive meal, socks with the names of the Biden’s grandchildren… But the journalists especially noted the little touches reminiscent of the previous occupants of the place. The Biden have indeed hung a framed photo of the Trump couple among the photos of other presidential families adorning one of their Christmas trees.

They also exhibited greeting cards signed by Donald Trump and all this despite the antagonism between the two presidents. Joe Biden hardly ever pronounces the name of his predecessor, which he calls “the other guy”. For his part, Donald Trump continues to claim that he won the 2020 election.
Once installed in the White House, the Trumps had ignored certain customs marking the courteous transmission of power. They did not invite their predecessors for tea and Donald Trump did not invite Barack Obama to a solemn ceremony for the hanging of his official portrait.
This year, the White House has put a lot of emphasis on Jill Biden’s involvement in the preparations for the year-end festivities, with the First Lady apparently asking for additional adornments. One way, perhaps, to mark the difference with Melania Trump who had lost interest in the preparations, launching according to a source close to her: “No one cares about this Christmas stuff, right? “
