A passenger stung by a scorpion in flight from Dakar

A rather unusual event took place on board a flight between Dakar (Senegal) and Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), on Saturday February 25. While the plane was en route to France, a passenger was pricked in the finger after plunging his hand into his bag. Caught in very severe pain, the 46-year-old man saw his blood pressure rise suddenly, reports Ocean Press. The victim understood that she had been stung by a scorpion, which had discreetly hidden in her bag. According to the daily, the passenger and his family had spent a few days in the desert during their stay in Senegal.

Supported by airline staff, the man was able to wait for landing at Nantes-Atlantique before being taken care of by firefighters to be taken to the University Hospital. As for the animal, it was immediately isolated in the closed bag and placed in the toilet, which had been sealed off. The scorpion, which would not a priori be classified as a deadly species, was given to an association.

In 2019, a passenger returning from Mexico discovered a potentially dangerous scorpion hiding in his suitcase.
