Three candidates stood for election, all from the majority. In the first round, François de Canson, mayor of La-Londe-les-Maures and deputy to Marc Giraud, came out on top with 18 votes, followed by Jean-Louis Masson and Didier Brémond (LR), LR mayor of Brignoles, 14 each vote. The latter had withdrawn at the end of the first round in favor of Jean-Louis Masson.

As outgoing vice-president, Jean-Louis Masson had held the position of interim president for two weeks, after the conviction of Marc Giraud.
