A new early heat record was broken on Saturday in France

Writing this this Monday from Hauts-de-France, under the wind and showers after the passage of depression “Renata”, it is hard to believe it. And yet, this weekend, France did indeed record a new record for early heat according to Météo-France.

The forecaster therefore ensures that on Saturday, the average temperature in mainland France reached a new record in terms of precocity. The last one only dates back to April 6.

Early heat before the cold snap

The heat “proved exceptional for the beginning of April with an average temperature in France reaching 17.9°C, which had never happened before April 15,” indicated the national forecaster.

Météo-France has also noted several local monthly records, between 28°C and 32°C. The Lyonnais were thus able to benefit from a mercury of 29°C, and even more so in Montpellier and Bordeaux where the thermometer was able to climb up to 31°C. On the other hand, the week promises to be very cold and humid over a large part of the country.
