A new breakdown on the metro B caused by a series of negligence by the teams working on the site

We now know a little more about the origin of the breakdown that once again paralyzed the Lyon metro line B, this Thursday morning. For four hours, traffic was interrupted between the stations of Charpennes and Stade de Gerland. This umpteenth malfunction is due to “a failure” of the company responsible for carrying out night work on the site aimed at extending the line to the hospitals in the east of Lyon.

The teams working at night “did not return the site to proper condition”, indicates Keolis. In other words, they did not fix the electric cables correctly, as they should have done. So much so that the cleaning company intervening to ensure the cleanliness of the metro inadvertently moved one of these cables over the voices of the metro.

The companies summoned

Result: when the first reconnaissance train started to circulate a little before 5 o’clock, it dragged this cable in its tracks, “thus causing damage and the interruption of operation”.

The companies concerned will be convened on Friday in order “to obtain information on this failure and commitments so that this type of incident does not happen again”, concludes Keolis.
