By 2026, Stade Brestois will have a new 15,000-seat enclosure on an 18-hectare green site located at the gates of Brest, the Breton club announced on Wednesday. “It’s complicated to stay at the highest level and that’s what we’re going to try to do with this new tool,” said Gérard Le Saint, owner with his brother Denis of the SB29.
The Breton club announced in 2018, while playing in Ligue 2, a project for a new setting for 2022. “We reviewed the copy from a financial point of view”, explained Denis Le Saint, referring to a project ” reasonable “. The current Francis-Le Blé stadium no longer meets standards
The project provides for an enclosure with a capacity similar to that of the Francis-Le Blé stadium, the club’s current cocoon located in the heart of Brest. Inaugurated in 1922 and owned by the city, it no longer meets the standards imposed by the league. The new stadium with rounded shapes will see the light of day in the commercial area of Froutven in the municipality of Guipavas.
The project aims to make it a lively space all year round, and not just on match days. A space of 2,000 m2 is thus planned for leisure (e-games and e-sport), while six 40 m high masts will offer a tree climbing type activity. Topped with wind turbines and equipped with sails in the club’s colors, they must also contribute to giving it a “unique” identity in connection with Breton maritime culture.
