A near-miss accident on the race with a car in the wrong direction

Disaster was narrowly averted. Sunday, during the eighth and final stage of Paris-Nice, won by Tadej Pogacar, a car in the wrong direction failed to overthrow runners in Berre-les-Alpes (Alpes-Maritimes). The scene, in video, shows a platoon deporting in extremis to avoid the vehicle at the exit of a bend.

Taking the wheel despite the road being closed to traffic, the motorist, who probably lived nearby, seemed to have stopped when cyclists passed. Downhill and therefore launched at full speed, they probably avoided a serious accident.

On Friday, the sixth stage of the Race to the Sun was canceled in the middle of the day, due to very strong winds from storm Larissa. The riders should have set off from Tourves, in the Var, to reach the Alpes-Maritimes, at La Colle-sur-Loup.
