A municipal police officer was seriously injured, in the night from Friday to Saturday, in the district Near Arènes, in Montpellier (Hérault), during an intervention, reports Sébastien Cote (PS), the elected official of the city in charge of public peace. Forty-five days off work were prescribed for him. “I give him my strongest support, as well as the whole of the night brigade”, confided the elected official, on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Free Midday, a car driving at high speed caught the attention of this municipal police crew that night. The vehicle parked, then two young people got out. One of the two is suspected of having fled, the second was arrested.

But there was a third individual in the car. The latter is accused of having started with a bang, and of having knocked down the policeman and one of the suspects he was intercepting, continues the regional daily. They were remanded in custody.
