A municipal agent suspected of having deliberately crushed a pedestrian

Since Monday, he has been arrested by the police. A road worker from the town of Brie-Comte-Robert (Seine-et-Marne) was placed in police custody on Monday, suspected of intentional homicide because he would have knowingly run over a pedestrian, AFP learned on Tuesday. from a police source.

Law enforcement was called around 2:15 p.m. Monday for what appeared to be a traffic accident. In a narrow street of the city of 19,000 inhabitants, a municipal utility vehicle had struck a pedestrian during a maneuver in reverse.

A dispute with the victim’s son?

Despite the intervention of the emergency services, the 79-year-old victim was declared dead shortly after 3 p.m.

But the investigation quickly revealed that the 23-year-old municipal employee driving the utility vehicle had had an altercation with the son of the deceased septuagenarian, a conflict whose reason was not immediately clear.

“The driver backed up and allegedly, in fact, ran over the victim twice,” the law enforcement source said. The suspect was under a judicial suspension of his driver’s license. Suspected of intentional homicide, he was taken into custody on Monday afternoon. The investigation is entrusted to the Moissy-Cramayel police station.
